Here are some pictures of the clothe donation made by Help and Save Africa on April 2010.

The clothes were donated to homeless handicap in Conakry, Guinea.

Stabbed in broad daylight by a soldier, proof in photos

These photos show a Guinean soldier stabbing a supposed protestor in broad daylight. The scenes are even more brutal than those which were revealed the day after the September 28 massacre in Conakry, something which junta chief Moussa Dadis Camara refuses to accept responsibility for, saying that he was "overwhelmed" by his army.

African Universities' daily struggle

France 24 recently published an article about the university in Guinea, which is one of the countries that Help and Save africa focuses on.

This is a very sad reality, and the government closes its eyes on it and doesn't do anything to help. This is one of the main reason many students try to go oversees to study, which is also very hard because the embassies make that harder every year.

So what can one do about this? It's really a sad and the people in power need to realize how bad this is and do something to help or otherwise there is little future for Africa.

We are pleased to announce that Help and Save Africa's Google Checkout account has been restored.
Our account was suspended for a short period because Google needed to verify our 501(c) status.

So we can once again accept donation online.

Help and Save Africa is proud to launch its improved and redesigned website at hsafrica.org.

We cleaned up a lot of things and added more content and information about our organization and what we do to help better Africa.
More information about the organization has been added, such as

A new Our Programs section with information about the program we run,
A more descriptive About Us that includes our Organization Document,
A better Store with HSAfrica Wristdands and new HSAfrica T-Shirts,
and much more...

This is very exciting for us and we hope that you like our new site and will find it with all the information you need about us and easier to use.

AIDS in Africa

I came across this link on Google Maps and thought that I should share it with the world.
This is very sad, we have all these organizations trying to decrease the rate of people with AIDS in Africa but still it does not seem to work.
I remember being a child in Guinea and getting lessons about AIDS all the time, and that's more than 10 years ago, how come there are still more people being contaminated and it seems like nobody can do much about it?

There is the Aids in Africa map from Google, click on the blue square to see a video.

I guess all we can do is help the ones in need and hope that things will change.

Donate Items Program Canceled!

Help and Save Africa has decided to stop receiving items to ship to Africa.
The directors decided to cancel the Donate Items program due to the high cost of shipping to Africa.
We want to concentrate more on taking kids to schools and help them build a future.

Edubuntu for KIDS!

As a Software Developer, I'm always checking out new technology and digging the web for cool stuff. For the past week I've been playing around with Ubuntu, which is an operating system based on Linux/Unix. I found it very easy to install and to use, and very cool with a lot of animations.
Today I came across Edubuntu, here is small introduction about it with some screenshots:

"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". The Edubuntu Linux distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to schools, through its customized school environment. The current version of Edubuntu is aimed at classroom use, and future versions of Edubuntu will expand to other educational usage, such as university use.

The best thing about this is that it is completely FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that it would be great if Help and Save Africa could get 5 to 10 computers with Edubuntu in a classroom and introduce the kids in Africa to computers and get them interested to the technology.
